Residents are true partners of council

I quote from your report (November 18) about the rejection of Clarendon Arcade: ‘David Ward, planning director of Wilson Bowden, said the developer still believes the proposal is needed and appropriate’. He would, wouldn’t he?

I quote again: ‘[Cllr Michael Doody said] “We will now, with our partners, take stock and decide the best way to proceed to ensure that the town centre meets the challenges of the 21st century”.’

Firstly, the word ‘partners’ sticks in my gullet. Secondly, the council’s true partners, the people who live here, have made their opinion of the Clarendon Arcade and the many reasons why they oppose it, abundantly clear.

Thirdly, their reasons become more potent almost by the day. - RP Taylor, St Mary’s Terrace, Leamington.
