Some privacy please in public convenience

Using the public loos in the Royal Priors I was recently startled to see a lady cleaner enter the gents in order to do the hourly check up. While there are apparently signs in the ladies warning women that a male cleaner might enter the facilities, I am sure everyone can see the difference between female toilet containing cubicles and a male one where blokes are using urinals.

I would like to make it quite clear I have no problem with the cleaners themselves. I am certain that they have no desire to walk in to a public rest room to find men relieving themselves.

However I find it beyond crass that a woman can legitimately enter the facilities when men are using them. Surely Royal Priors managment can simply close the toilets for five minutes while the hourly check is undertaken (stand outside with a sign saying “closed for five minutes” wait until everyone has come out, then go in, check and sign the chart).

Or is that naively hopeful of me? - Lance Manley, via email.
