Store will affect Old Town businesses

More than 450 local residents have submitted their objections to Warwick District Council planning department over the plans to convert the Oak Inn into a Sainsbury’s Local store.

The planning consultation period is now over and now the planning committee will decide the outcome for the local community and businesses.

Having won the Mary Portas Pilot funding for the Old Town where over 20 per cent of shops are vacant, this development contradicts the Government’s plans to regenerate town shopping centres to bring trade in and fill empty shops.
