The wrong place to build more houses

We are writing to object in the strongest terms to the Local Plan proposals for several thousand new houses to be built on trust land between Europa Way and Myton Road.

Firstly, anybody who has ever tried to travel around this area during mornings and evenings will not need telling that the congestion is already totally unmanageable, and the introduction of circa 2000+ extra vehicles added to this is just unthinkable.

Think back a few weeks to when Morrisons opened and the continued roadworks in the area - traffic was backed up for miles in all directions at all times of day, with just one lane closed at the Myton roundabout - the area has proved consistently that it cannot cope with existing traffic, the smallest incident or lane closure causes tailbacks of traffic at all times of day on the Myton Road.

Air quality - and noise - from stationary traffic is already at unacceptable levels.

Secondly there is a very real danger of flooding to the existing properties around Myton Road if this plan goes ahead - there has already been an increase in surface water around the Myton Crescent properties with the renovation of the Trinity site, with thousands of houses built on the fields this could pose a huge threat to our properties from surface flood water.

Thirdly there is a proposal to have through road access via Saumur Way to part of this estate; this is a very small residential road which already carries traffic in and out of the existing estate which can often result in congestion of this road, this plan would increase traffic significantly and would cause even more hold ups, and again increase noise and air pollution.

Finally - there is not the infrastructure in terms of school places, doctors and other services to accommodate so many additional families moving into the area in question.

This area is totally inappropriate for consideration of this building project, and the proposal should be rejected in its entirety
