Time for a proper box office service

I read your article ‘The show must go on’ with interest.I attended the open day and was impressed with the refurbishment. I talked to Jo Lewis and she explained the folding seats and we also talked about the theatre remaining true to its inception for multipurpose use. Long may it continue!!

I have been a member of Spa Opera for many years and was recently on stage (again) for Pirates of Penzance. Our productions cost many thousands of pounds to stage and we hire the Spa Centre for six days. Obviously we pay for the privilege and we do consider it a privilege to have such a wonderful amenity, but it is vital we sell as many tickets as possible.

Unfortunately the biggest failure for the centre is its box office. A box office is a theatres’ first point of contact with its customers and should be accessible and efficient and the Spa Centre is neither. Higher ticket sales result in more revenue for both the centre and the organisation using it at the time. The most frequent complaint we heard was “box office closed - go to town hall” only to find the town hall closed. I do hope these problems can be resolved. - Carole Morgan, via email.
