Unable to use parking ticket round the corner

I have just “nipped up” into Warwick Old Market to go into the Coventry Building Society.

I didn’t have any change other than a £1 for the parking meter and though I didn’t expect to be an hour, I purchased one anyway. I found I had forgotten my purse so went back home and returned straight away only to find my space had gone. I drove round to the Square, parked only to be informed by a ticket inspector that I needed to purchase yet another ticket as it was another street. I told him not to be ridiculous as the road signs touch each other, he shrugged his shoulders and said “that’s the way it is.”

I fail to understand Warwick District Council and Warwickshire County Council’s agenda for promoting commercial trade in Warwick.

Anyone who wishes to do any business, shop or use the wonderful bars and restaurant’s must do so within set time scales and guidelines of the parking restrictions of the district and county council.

I believe the county council does not have this problem as the staff have designated all day parking areas with permits outside the Square - all their requirements are within walking distance of their work at Shire Hall i.e. coffee shops, dry cleaners, banks, building societies, sandwich bars, florists, butchers, opticians and news agents. All can be visited in their lunch breaks or at their convenience.
