Village correspondent does a sterling job

I was incensed to read the letter in last week’s Postbag’ entitled ‘Alleged theft had a happy ending’ and the inferred criticism of the Cubbington correspondent who had brought the incident to the attention of villagers in the District Digest Section of your paper.

Happily, as explained, there had been no theft of a wallet, just a simple case of it being lost. However, the writer appeared disproportionately critical of what was obviously an article written with the best of intentions and in good faith, not ‘scaremongering,’ to alert people to such a possibility.

Whilst agreeing, being a true Cubbingtonian, that the village is a lovely place to live, we are not without crime as the desecration of over 20 graves in the churchyard last week, made all too apparent. The Cubbington correspondent does a sterling job in promoting Cubbington village life and I am very sad that KB Ward, a relative newcomer to the village, doesn’t appreciate that.- Name and address supplied.
