Welcome to M40 Junction 12 Southville

Your thought provoking article, laying out the proposed Kineton development, deserves to raise opposition to such ridiculous plans.

There is no benefit whatsoever here for Kineton residents, as it is designed to be marketed as “M40 Junction 12 Southville”, with the even more mercenary plans for 250 houses at Bishops Itchington being “M40 Junction 12 Northville”.

The developers comment that there is no flood risk and that the extra traffic would be no problem, is laughable. They always say that. Try making a smooth passage through Kineton today!

The only beneficiaries would be a) the developers and b) Home Counties commuters who wish to dispose of their million pound-plus houses to buy a £500,000 five bedroom house in M40 Warwickshire, seduced by the sales pitch; five minutes from the M40 and one hour from Heathrow.

All communities can live by the Draft Core Strategy of a 2 per cent increase in size but that does not satisfy the larger developers who want large flat open spaces, no brown field sites and planning permission to build much larger houses than the indigenous population can afford in any case.

Stratford District Council has taken commendable stances against mega developments, as well as the wind farm blight, to date and it can only do good if others voice their support as they come under pressure in the future.- Robert Sherriff. Masters Orchard, Southam.
