What’s to gain from seeing his face?

Regarding the photograph and Gordon Jelley’s conviction.

As a journalist I know the pressure to provide visual evidence for every story. I feel strongly that Gordon Jelley has a right not to provide his photograph. Why should he? What would we gain from seeing his photograph? What would the victim gain?

Whatever Gordon has or hasn’t done, he is now being punished and his actions are now between him and his God.

Our role as onlookers is to help see what each and every one of us can do to create a better, cleaner and more loving life instead of being the condemning judge and jury from our armchairs.

We don’t need to see what Gordon Jelley looks like in order to create a better world. - Monica Troughton, via email.
