Worrying views on future learning

I find the fact that Heather Stack’s views are “to shape the future of learning” very worrying; particularly as regards SEN pupils being able to access readers and scribers during SATS testing (Courier last week). Children with certain needs may well require a reader or a scribe to simply access the paper. That should in no way be held against them as a measure of their lack of ability in literacy or any subject. Dyslexic child ‘bad’ at literacy because they need a reader? I think not. I imagine Heather feels that SATS results are also the best way to measure a child’s intelligence and a teacher’s performance? - David Sheldon, Broad Street, Warwick.
