You wait for a bus and two come at once....

Living on the Woodloes Estate we benefit directly from the regular daytime G1 bus service between Warwick and Leamington. However, it is quite obvious that the logistics of trying to run such a service every eight minutes in an urban area are clearly not working. For example, as I am sure many other local residents will also testify, we frequently get two such buses arriving at the same time (in both directions), both of them only a quarter full, or less. I personally witnessed this phenomenon no less than five times last week alone!

Surely it is only common sense (if such a thing prevails in the offices of Stagecoach and Warwickshire County Council) to re-schedule the G1 in order to:-

a) Reduce the daytime running times to, say, every 15 minutes to avoid the wasteful “bunching” that we get now, and then -

b) Review the rather haphazard and erratic evening timetable to put more such buses on at night and, more importantly -

c) Use the “surplus” vehicles to run a much-needed new daytime service from Warwick and Leamington direct to Coventry University Hospital (Walsgrave).

At present either non-car drivers or those preferring not to suffer the ‘gridlock’ in the hospital car parks (or their cost) sometimes have to use three buses via Pool Meadow in order to meet appointments or visit patients at Walsgrave.

Wouldn’t that be a far more efficient way of preventing the wasteful mis-use of such a valuable resource? - John Payton, Kettlewell Close, Woodloes Park, Warwick.
