Patient feedback is good for Warwick Hospital trust

More than 90 per cent of patients recently surveyed by Warwick Hospital’s trust have said they would recommend its services to their loved ones.

South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, which also runs the Rehabilitation hospital in Warwick Gates and Stratford Hospital, asked around a third of the patients using its services between April and June to take part in the Government’s national ‘Friends and Family Test’. Some 94 per cent of respondents said they were ‘extremely likely’ or ‘likely’ to recommend the services to their friends and family.

The result places the trust in the top 20 per cent of all hospital trusts in the country.

Chief executive Glen Burley said: “We welcome the Friends and Family Test as an additional way for patients and visitors to provide us with their feedback.

“I am delighted that these results have reflected the excellent care that our staff provide for our local population. We will continue to use these comments to make improvements.”

The trust also has a patient experience group, which meets every month to discuss services with the trust’s director of nursing, who then takes suggestions to senior nursing meetings.

The trust says improvements have already been made through patient feedback, for example now more hot drinks are available on wards.

A trust spokeswomen added: “We are now working to use the Friends and Family Test in some of our community settings, as well as continuing to work to improve our response rates in some areas.

“In particular we are working to improve our response rate in Accident and Emergency, which is a new area for this survey.”
