Peaceful Pride festival hailed 
a great success

Although not as many people turned out to the festival, which took place at the Pump Room Gardens on Saturday, as to the inaugural event, Dan Brown, who single-handedly ran it, said it was the atmosphere that made it the best Warwickshire Pride yet.

Dan. who runs Push Projects, a charity that supports young people who consider themselves to be LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer), said: “The weather was absolutely awful, but it did dry up a bit in the afternoon and more people turned out then.

“The numbers were not as good as I was expecting, but everyone there seemed to be enjoying themselves, even though they were wet.

“It went even better than last year in some ways because the atmosphere was so nice and peaceful.”

As well as a range of stalls, activities and pamper treatments, the event included a programme of live music and talks - and Dan singled out performers Shanade, Tom Barnwell and Diva Viva as being particularly well received.

Festival-goers helped to raise £334 for Push Projects. Dan said: “I was very happy with that, as given the weather, I had been expecting it to be less.”
