Another defibrillator has been installed in Kenilworth thanks to a partnership with a charity and two business owners.

The 16th publicly accessible Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is now in place thanks to the “Saving Lives in Kenilworth” campaign driven by local charity Kenilworth HeartSafe and business owners Sid and Sukhi.

The AED and cabinet were funded by a 50 per cent donation from Sid and Sukhi with the rest of the balance coming from charitable funds raised by Kenilworth HeartSafe.

Sid said: “Budgens is more than a grocery store and Post Office, we see ourselves as an integral part of the community and we are delighted to support this very worthwhile community project which will hopefully help to save lives in the years to come.”

Neil Morris, Kenilworth HeartSafe Trustee, said: “It is extremely gratifying when community minded business people like Sid and Sukhi are willing to put something back into the community they serve.

"We are very grateful to them for their generous financial contribution which has enabled this 16th publicly accessible AED to be installed and cover off another important geographical part of our wider community.

"We still have plans for other AED’s to be installed but in the short period since our campaign started we have seen a growth in numbers of 24/7 publicly accessible AED’s from seven to 16.

"In tandem with locating new AED’s we have a strategy to broaden Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED training across a large part of our local community to increase the number of trained people available to assist casualties as and when the need arises.

"Covid 19 and its related social distancing has inevitably disrupted our training sessions but we are currently looking to reinstate the programme just as soon as circumstances allow.”
