Rugby's Conservatives have reacted to this evening's news that Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been transferred to an intensive care unit after his Covid-19 symptoms worsened.

Cllr Pete Gilbert, chairman of Rugby Conservative Association said: "Everyone in Rugby Conservative Association send their best wishes and support to our Prime Minister.

"He will be getting the best care from our brilliant NHS.

"Boris is a fighter, and he will beat this."

Cllr Gilbert's statement comes as politicians from across the political spectrum with the PM a speedy recovery.

Mr Johnson was first admitted to hospital for tests on the night of April 5, but his condition worsened this afternoon.
