The village newsletter adds: "Not much is now in print about our village’s fascinating and long history so the author [Alan] hopes that this new book will prove to be an interesting and important read for most Bubbenhall residents and a way of learning more about our predecessors, the village life of 100 or more years ago, and the enormous social and economic changes that people witnessed in that period.

"If you thought lockdown was bad take some time to reflect on conditions in 19th century Bubbenhall."

Snippets of information from the book, as shown on the village's newsletter, include Bubbenhall's inclusion in The Doomsday Book in 1086, the village fielding a cricket team in the 1880s despite its small popualtion and the apperance of an international footballer who won the UEFA Cup and the League double with Liverpool FC playing in the village's New Years Day football match in 1975.

Copies of the book cost £9.50 and only a limited number will be printed so orders must be made by contacting Alan at [email protected] or calling 024 7630 1916.
