Lyn O’Toole of Cards for Good Causes, said: “Our shop in the Visitor Information Centre is very well supported by the people of Warwick and surrounding areas.

"This year, more than ever before, our charities need your support.

"Buying charity Christmas cards is one of the simplest ways to support good causes this festive season and what better way to spread the festive cheer to your family and friends in these most difficult times.

"The proceeds from every card or product sold make a vital contribution to the work of the charities that we partner.”

In the past ten years, charities have received more than £40 million from Cards for Good Causes, representing at least 70p in every pound, out of which the charities pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and any VAT.

Cllr Terry Morris, the Mayor of Warwick said: "With the ongoing coronavirus situation, many people will be uncertain as to whether they’ll get to spend time visiting friends and family this year and I suspect that this will result in increased demand for Christmas cards.

"It’s therefore great to see that Warwick’s visitor information centre has stocked up early with a wide selection of seasonal greetings cards all of which support charitable causes.

"Liz and the team have done a great job in adapting the centre to allow them to still welcome people to browse and shop safely as well as taking a regular slot at Warwick’s Saturday market for those who would rather shop in the open air.

"Either way, I’d encourage people to buy their Christmas cards from the team – supporting local business and local, as well as national, charities."

Liz Healey, manager of the visitor information centre, said: "It was lovely to have the Mayor of Warwick and his Consort Liz Jackson along on Saturday to officially open the shop.

"The cards are spaced out around the centre this year to allow for social distancing and there is hand sanitiser on every table.

"A one way system in and out of the centre is in place for the safety of our customers and visitors.
