CLANG!: The Leamington Society is encouraging residents to report loose manhole covers on the town's roads

Heritage charity The Leamington Society is encouraging residents to report loose manhole covers on the town’s roads.

The society has raised the issue of the loose covers ‘creating a huge racket’ every time a vehicle is driven over them.

The problem is particularly bad in Leamington’s ‘canyon streets, where sound echoes between buildings’.

The society has said: “While Warwickshire County Council Highways manage the roads, many of the large square covers actually belong to Severn Trent Water .

"If you report them directly (via WhatsApp) with a photo and a postcode or what3words location, they can usually quickly verify ownership, visit within about three days and update you on any planned repairs.

Two particularly noisy ones on the Parade – outside Boots and PizzaExpress - have now been logged and confirmed for a visit.

“Have you noticed any others around town?

“Let us know or report them to SevernTrentWater — a quick photo and location can help get them fixed faster."
