The council says its efforts to support and accommodate all rough sleepers during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic have 'all but eliminated rough sleeping, with the current provision ensuring there is no need for anyone to sleep rough on the streets'.

The new strategy outlines the provision and preventative measures the council plans to put in place to ensure that the work continues and is extended to reducing all forms of homelessness.

Cllr Jan Matecki, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for housing services, said: “I’m extremely proud of the work we have done since 2018, in particular, during the pandemic, when alongside voluntary agencies we provided secure accommodation for more than 80 individuals who were sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness.

"Our aim through this strategy is to make a temporary fix into a permanent solution, for the most vulnerable in our community.
