The 100-year-old, who raised almost £33 million for NHS charities by walking laps of his garden, died with coronavirus in Bedford Hospital yesterday (February 2).

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service have said: "A true hero, a war veteran and known more recently for inspiring our nation and capturing our hearts through this Covid pandemic.
