"On other days small, organised groups are meeting while the woodland is closed.

"This is to maintain social distancing and manage any overcrowding.

"We also have a one-way system in place around the wood.

"Please do enjoy a visit to the wood and see how much it has grown in recent months."

The group has been in discussions with Network Rail over the possiblity of leasing the piece of land adjacent to Foundry Wood in order to expand the woodland area.

"This will be a big project and will take some time and we are very grateful to the funder which means we are one step closer to making this happen.

"Watch this space for updates."

Visitors to Foundry Wood are being encouraged to take part in the Big Butterfly Count, which is a UK-wide survey.

This starts today (Friday July 17) and will run until Sunday August 9.
