Ellie along with other volunteers from the rescue transported Roo from Romania to the UK in July 2020.

Roo has damage to her spine after being hit by what volunteers think was a spade.

Ellie said: "Roo has been hit with a spade or similar object to attempt to kill her and she is the only surviving pup from her litter.

"From the day I got her home her progress has got better and better but she now seems to be deteriorating as she grows.

"She never seems to give up trying. Unfortunately the signals in her brain don't always reach her legs to tell them what to do now

"As she is growing, the broken vertebrae is putting more and more pressure on the nerves and spinal cord, causing paralysis and pain.

"I am now having to keep picking her up when she falls and repositioning her so she can continue.

"When she falls, the look on her face absolutely breaks my heart. She will keep trying to get up until she sees me coming to help.

"She has good days and bad days. The bad days are becoming more frequent now, hence the urgency for her surgery."

Ellie and the team at Dogbus are now trying to raise £11,000 so that Roo can have life-changing surgery.

Ellie said: "I honestly didn't think Roo would need the surgery as she was doing so well - otherwise we would have started fundraising earlier - but her rapid decline due to her little puppy body growing has meant we have done all we can and now need some specialist help.

"We really are against the clock now, we need to get this girl the help she so desperately needs and deserves.

"This little girl is one hell of a fighter.

"Roo wants to keep going and be that happy playful puppy she deserves to be.

"So we are going to be right behind her and fight with her. There is hope for this little girl, it just comes with one hell of a price tag."

As of Wednesday morning the fundraising page for Roo stood at around £4,200.

The Dogbus team are also grateful for the support they have received from people.

"We want to say a massive thank you to the community for all their continued support towards our work", said Ellie. "We honestly can't make this work without it.

"People have been so kind - donating food and so on, and even just their time they give to us to help when needed.

"We are looking for volunteers to come with us to Romania in October, we are building our own kennels, and setting up a clinic to spay and neuter as many dogs as we can.

"We need help to build the kennels, so anyone who is fit and able to help us would be amazing.

"Most of our rescue work is in the UK, but after going over to Romania as a rescue several times we feel there's so much we can do there too."
