Hatton Park residents invited to consultation event for new care home plans

Plans are being drawn up by Belmont Healthcare to build a new care home on land off Birmingham Road.

Belmont Healthcare currently have care homes in Kent and East Sussex.

The developer is looking to provide a facility that could house around 70 people and is hoping that members of the community will go along to the event later this month to discuss the plans.

A spokesperson from Belmont Healthcare said: "The final plans are currently under review following our initial pre-application discussions with the district council.

"The current area under consideration is a section of secluded unoccupied land off the Birmingham road near to the Hatton Park residential estate.

"We are looking to develop a facility which offers support for people in need of care. The initial plans are looking at around 70 people at capacity although this is currently part of our discussions.

"The consultation event is there for us to open a dialogue with the local community on the potential project to present the scheme and our thoughts before considering putting in for a formal planning application for the home.

"As an operator first and foremost it’s important people understand our rationale to offer care to people it what potentially could be a remarkable setting.

"As our hope is to offer landscape gardens, bistro and views over the canal at Hatton which are currently not accessible.

"We welcome people to the consultation in an attempt to show our commitment to working with the community. As long term it will be that same community which will ultimately use, need or work within the care home."

The public consultation event will take place on March 24 inside the main hall at Hatton Park village hall in Barcheston Drive. It will run from 4pm to 7pm.
