Hero St Cross nurse who died earlier this year remembered on Rugby's Tree of Light

A hero nurse from St Cross who died of Covid-19 earlier this year is among the people remembered on Rugby's Tree of Light this week.

Clinical Sister Leilani Dayrit died suddenly in April, having served the NHS for 16 years.

An affectionate and caring person, she was nicknamed 'Mummy Lei' by the children of her friends and was exceptionally popular with patients and colleagues.

At the time of her death tributes poured in from across the country.

This week Sister Leilani is remembered on Rugby Rotary's Tree of Light - the big Christmas tree outside St Andrew's which is set up every year to raise funds for Myton Hospice.

The deadline for dedications for the tree ends on December 21, and Rugby Rotary said that so far this year around £5,000 has been raised.
