There were smiles all round as non essential and outdoor hospitality businesses reopened for the first time in months

Monday (April 12) marked a significant day in the easing of lockdown restrictions, with many businesses reopening.

To celebrate the occasion the Mayor of Warwick, Cllr Terry Morris spent all day visiting and reopening shops, barbers, pubs and restaurants across the county town.

He said: "It was fantastic to see people out and about in Warwick on Monday and supporting the additional businesses who were able to once again open their doors.

"I had the pleasure of formally re-opening a number of shops as well as dropping into many more to offer support as The Mayor – over 30 businesses in total.

"Everyone that I spoke with - business owners and shoppers - was in very good spirits and the town had a real vibrancy about it.

"I'd like to encourage everyone to shop local and to continue to support Warwick’s wonderful shops and businesses as we continue our journey out of the pandemic."

Sue Butcher, Chair of Warwick Chamber of Trade, said: "It was great to see our businesses reopening on a beautiful sunny day.

"The town was buzzing with lots of people using the outdoor spaces and shops reported being busy and people being really pleased to be able to use our lovely shops again."
