Incentive for Christmas shoppers cycling into Kenilworth town centre on Saturday

Kenilworth Town Council is hoping to encourage people to support retailers in the town and help the environment at the same time this Christmas.

On Saturday (December 12) between 9am and 3pm the council is offering a secure parking area for bicycles at the Kenilworth Centre situated in the Abbey End car park.

And the first 100 people using the parking will receive a voucher for a free hot drink at participating cafes in the town centre – Coffee on the Corner, Ardens, Forrest and Delightful Desserts.

Police officers will also be in attendance between noon and 2pm to offer bike security marking.

Cllr Andrew Milton, who chairs the town council’s cycling group, said: "We’re hoping this is a chance for us to both support our local retailers but also encourage people to travel by sustainable means.

"We’re really grateful to everyone who’s got involved – local coffee shops, residents, the police and my fellow councillors. It’s a small way for us to show that Kenilworth can be a cycle-friendly town."
