Just days before the first lockdown began in March, members of The 1st North Leamington Spa Beavers group ran laps of the track around Victoria Park wearing pyjamas in order to support The Myton Hospices and The Pam Britton Trust for Dementia.

The youngsters' efforts have raised £420 so far which has been split between the two charities.

The donation to the Myton Hospices is enough to buy 18 Christmas dinners at its sites while the money given to the Pam Brittain Trust will go a long way to support the volunteer-run services the charity provides.

Throughout lockdown, the Beaver group's leader Sharon Turnbull has worked tirelessly to keep the youngsters doing positive things including holding online cookery and science sessions on Zoom so they can earn achievement badges.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, the group would meet regularly at Cubbington CofE School in the village and there is a waiting list for new members.
