Telford Junior School in Telford Avenue was contacted by Kevin Arnott, whose eight-year-old daughter Holly-Ann is in Year 3, after mum Anna, who is 36 weeks pregnant, got the positive test result.

Kevin, Anna, their three other children and Holly-Ann are now having to isolate at their temporary home - a six-berth caravan at a site in Kenilworth - as they await the arrival of the baby girl.

And they are all showing symptoms of the virus.

Kevin contacted the school to ask if there was any way it could help and he said the reponse he got was "extraordinary".

He said: "I didn't know where to turn to at first.

"I called the county council and then the school on Friday (January 8)."

"I was only expecting maybe some bread and milk and a few other essentials but two teachers turned up to drop off six or seven bags of shopping.

""Those teachers who have helped us deserve an OBE.

"They have gone beyond their role to go out and spend their own money and gone out to do things for other people.

"It's extraordinary."

The Telford Junior School staff have told The Courier Series: "We like to feel that we are there to support all our families when needed, but particularly at this time when life is very tricky for lots of people.

"This particular family were in need of immediate assistance and we were happy to respond quickly and help them.

"We were very touched that they have taken the time to tell you about it."
