A visitor who went to the shopping centre in Leamington has said the team at the centre need to enforce the safety measures.

On Monday (September 21) a concerned and regular visitor at the Royal Priors Shopping Centre contacted the Courier saying they were unhappy with what was happening in terms of safety at the centre.

"There was a group of people and I said to them that they were going in the wrong direction and I just got a gob full of abuse.

"I have also contacted the centre about these issues

"They should be encouraging people to go the right direction.

"The management should pull their finger out.

"They have gone to the time and expense of putting measures in but what good are they if people are ignoring them."

Sarah Jones, manager of the Royal Priors Shopping Centre, said: "The well-being of our customers and staff continues to be our top priority, and we are committed to making the visitor shopping experience as safe as possible.

"Royal Priors is supporting government policies by encouraging visitors to be compliant, however, as per the guidance, it is not the shopping centre’s responsibility to enforce the measures.

"Alongside team members on the ground reminding people of the one-way system, social distancing rules and to wear a face covering for those who are able to, we also have tannoy announcements, signage at all entrances, in the lifts, car park and around the centre asking customers to adhere to the guidelines.

"We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the community for adapting to the changes in how we operate."
