Lions club honours Kenilworth Covid-19 support group volunteers

The Kenilworth Lions Club have honoured the volunteers of the Kenilworth Covid-19 Support Group by presenting special Lions Clubs International Certificates of Appreciation to three key members.

Helen Braithwaite, Pauline Hayward and Miranda de Freston were all presented with a certificate.

The presentation was made at Jubilee House this week by Steve Luff, President of Kenilworth Lions.

Also in attendance were Cllr Richard Dickson, Mayor of Kenilworth, and Cllr John Dearing, chair of the Kenilworth Covid-19 Support Group.

Steve Luff said: "Awarding these certificates is our recognition of the exceptional role that the Kenilworth Covid-19 Support Group has played in supporting vulnerable members of the local community in these very difficult times.

"They are awarded not just to the three individuals leading the Support Group activities, but to the over 300 volunteers who support them.

"The Lions motto is 'We Serve', and these awards recognise exceptional volunteer service by this wonderful team."

Cllr Richard Dickson, Mayor of Kenilworth, added: "it seems so long ago since the first meeting was held to decide how we'd respond in the town.

"So many people have been involved in so many different ways in getting the group up and running, including Simon Morris, Darren Rees, Jen Jones, Holly Hewitt, Nivi Morales, Mike Clarke, Steve James, Mandy Sutton, Catherine Gordon and Keith Grierson."
