It is planned that the EV charging points will be fully operational by the spring in the following car parks:

~ Chandos Street in Leamington

~ West Rock and Hampton Road in Warwick

~ Abbey End in Kenilworth

The programme, funded through the government’s OLEV and ORCS schemes, also includes the provision of eight additional sockets in St Peter’s multi-storey car park in Leamington.

These will complement the charging points already available in the car parks at Covent Garden and Station Approach.

Cllr Alan Rhead, Warwick District Council’s portfolio holder for environment and neighbourhood services, said: “As electric vehicles become more affordable and technology improves, we have to make it as easy as possible for local people to make the transition from diesel and petrol.

"Along with the availability of free parking permits, what amounts to a seven-fold increase in the number of public charging points available is another significant step in our efforts to reduce carbon emissions and improve air quality in our District.”
