More Warwick events cancelled due to coronavirus

This week more events have been cancelled in the town due to coronavirus.
The team at Warwick Town Council issued an update about the coronavirus situation this morning and they have also advised that is members of the public need to get in touch with the council or the team at the Court House they should do so by phone or email.

Hide AdA spokesperson said: "In the three months since the first case of Coronavirus was reported it has spread across the world, now finding its way closer to home. During that time, there has been a great deal in the news, which is changing daily so we thought it was important to advise on our current situation at Warwick Town Council


"Our office remains open from 8.45am until 4.45pm Monday to Friday. To help reduce the risk of spreading germs, our office will be closed to all members of the public, councillors and guests. Please contact us via email or telephone.
"Our committee meetings are scheduled to go ahead as planned. We ask that all councillors, officers and members of the public wash their hands as soon as they arrive at The Court House for their meetings.
"Additional cleaning services are also in place to ensure the venue is fully cleaned before and after each event.

The following events have been cancelled:
~ #LoveLocal fair, which was due to take place on April 4
~ Warwick Court Leet have postponed Warwick Town Criers Competition 2020, which was due to take place on April 18

Hide Ad~ Unlocking Warwick have taken the decision to postpone all In The Ballroom and Tea Dance sessions until further notice.
~ Unlocking Warwick have cancelled The Jazz Age event, scheduled to take place on May 2
~ Unlocking Warwick have cancelled all tours of The Court House until further notice.
~ Warwick Court Leet have decided to cancel this year’s Spring Court, scheduled to take place on March 26

Hide AdA spokesperson from Unlocking Warwick said: "Regretfully the Town Council’s volunteers have had to call off their community events for the foreseeable future because of the Covid-19 coronavirus epidemic.
"The government advice is for everyone to reduce social contacts to a minimum, especially those involving the over-70s and vulnerable groups, who will be asked to stay at home.
"We are sorry to disappoint residents and visitors who enjoy our events, and we hope everyone will take extra care and stay clear of the virus."
A spokesperson from Warwick Court Leet said: "As a precaution and following advice from the Ancient and Honourable Guild of Town Criers the decision has been made to postpone the Warwick Town criers' competition that was to be held on Saturday April 18.

Hide Ad"Although the competition has been a biennial event, we have today taken the decision to book the venue for April 17 2021 to reschedule the competition, due to the postponement of the 2020 event.
"We were looking forward to welcoming Town Criers from across the country for the competition but hope, in light of the decision that has been taken, very much that they will sign up for April 17 2021."
