NCT is able to offer these free walks because of an exemption from current restrictions which allows organised parent support groups to meet in larger numbers.

Walk and Talks are a chance for mothers and fathers to meet with their babies and toddlers for a socially distanced walk, chat and support each other. Sessions are free, parents just need to pre-book tickets.

Alex Smith, Leamington Spa Walk and Talk volunteer, NCT, said: “The Walk and Talk tickets are going like hot cakes. It shows how desperate new mums and dads are to get out and meet others in the same boat.

“It’s especially important that new parents get this opportunity now as so many are feeling isolated, anxious and uncertain due to the pandemic. We’d love to hear from more mums and dads who are willing to volunteer to organise a Walk in their area.”

One local mum who’d been on a Walk and Talk said: ‘It’s nice to have someone to talk to that understands what you’re feeling. I’m loving the park walks. Coronavirus has made things feel very uneasy and it’s nice to have something a bit normal to look forward to.’

Due to unprecedented demand, NCT is calling for more volunteers to organise Walk and Talks in their area.
