A group of farmers and villagers from Norton Lindsey brought some early festive cheer to local villages and Warwick town in the past few days with their Santa procession.

After the village decided collectively to light up Norton Lindsey last Saturday, the local farmers and village volunteers then sprung a special surprise by organising a covid-secure procession of illuminated tractors accompanied by Christmas music and pulling Santa on his sleigh, which then toured through Norton Lindsey, Wolverton and Snitterfield.

The reaction was so positive that they decided to take the tour further afield and on Tuesday night (December 8) took the procession through the streets of Warwick much to the delight of hundreds of socially distanced spectators who eagerly lined the route to cheer them along.

One onlooker said afterwards: “How wonderful was this….we live in the middle of Warwick and to see the decorated tractors and Santa come up our street was truly memorable. Thank you from Warwick."

The villagers have also used this as a way of raising money for Warwickshire Young Carers who would normally benefit from the annual Christmas carols evening at the local village pub, the New Inn.

In just the past few days the total stands at £1,200 already and is continuing to grow.

Roger Mann, who spearheaded the procession, said: “We were delighted to have the chance to put smiles on everyone’s faces and this was an easy opportunity for us to bring Father Christmas to the children in a year when most won’t get to see him.

"It’s fantastic that so many people have supported us by donating to Warwickshire Young Carers who are such an important local children’s charity”.
