Leamington man Darren Laffey has set himself a festive-themed running challenge to raise money for a charity close to his heart.
On the first day of December, when many were enjoying the first bit of chocolate from their advent calendars, Darren donned a Father Christmas outfit and set out on the first of the 5k runs he will be doing every day throughout December to raise money for the Alzheimer's Society.

Darren's wife Helen's nan had dementia and he was keen to do something to support the charity while spreading some Christmas cheer at a time when we are all feeling the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Darren said: "If you can’t dress up as Santa in December, then, when can you?
"My wife’s Nan had the illness and felt it would be a nice thing to do especially after a year we have all had."
Darren has already raised more than £1,000 for the cause.
To make a donation via the JustGiving page he has set up online click here.
