Plans that would see another McDonald's branch open in Warwick have been recommended for approval.

The application would see the former Harvester restaurant off Stratford Road turned into a drive-thru McDonald's.

If given the go ahead part of the existing building would be demolished and there would be extensions built on the site.

These plans come after a two-storey drive-thru McDonald's opened next to Tesco in Emscote Road in November 2019.

Since the plans for the former Harvester site were submitted more then 100 objections have been received against the application.

Warwick Town Council and several other councillors have also objected to the plans.

Objections were made for a number of reasons including; impact on traffic, impact on neighbours, noise, litter, pollution and the impact on people's health.

Eight letters of support were also submitted for the application.

Despite the many objections planning officers at Warwick District Council have recommended the plans for approval.

In their 'conclusion' in the planning documents they say: "It is considered that the proposals would not cause unacceptable harm to the living conditions of neighbouring dwellings or to the character and appearance of the area.

"Furthermore, it is considered that the proposals would be acceptable in terms of ecological impact, highway and pedestrian safety and impact on the town centre."

The plans are due to go before Warwick District Council's planning committee on Wednesday (September 9).
