Eight glamping pods are to be ‘planted’ in a south Warwickshire woodland after plans were approved this week.

On Tuesday (October 6) members of Warwick District Council’s planning committee voted unanimously in favour of allowing the pods at Coplow Wood, on the outskirts of Sherbourne, along with an access track off and a parking area.

Each of the wooden pods would consist of a double bed, seating area and kitchenette and would have a separate composting toilet and shower. It is not expected that any significant trees would be removed, just clearing work to create a glade in front of each pod.

A report prepared for the meeting explained that although the site was situated alongside the busy A46 dual-carriageway linking Warwick and Stratford, the council’s senior environmental health officer raised no objections concerning potential road noise due to the number of trees between the site and the road.

Originally, access to the site was to have been through the village of Sherbourne but this has now been changed with cars now using an existing access track from Watery Lane and it’s junction with the A46.

The report added that to make the glamping area car-free, the parking area will be away from the pods with visitors walking the final stretch while luggage is transported by quadbike.
