Police were reportedly sent to shut a barbers in Warwick after they opened today (Tuesday) against Government advise.

Last night in his address, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the UK was going into a 'lockdown' to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Addressing the public, Boris Johnson outlined a series of strict social measures, including the closure of non-essential shops and the banning of social gatherings, ordering members of the public to stay at home with only a few exceptions.

Today a post on social media by St John's Barbers in Warwick said that the police had come to the barbers to shut them down after they opened this morning.

In the post to their customers, which was online for around three hours before being deleted, it said: "To all our customers. Just police came and forced us to shut our shop.

"Just wanna say sorry to those customers that want haircut.

"Hopefully see you soon and keep healthy...

"St. Johns barbers team"

In the comments one of the team at the barbers added: "explanation for those thinking that I’m sad about closing the shop. but I know that very well that we’re taking a big risk.

"But we work with care and top hygiene.

"But I didn’t came here today for make some money, I came here just make some customers happy that they didn’t had chance to have a haircut.

"But I’m always positive because we had chance to give some customers haircut. And they left with the big smile"

A spokesperson from Warwickshire Police said: "This was reported to us. Officers attended and advice was given. The premises has now closed.
