The meeting was due to take place in Hatton Park village hall tomorrow (Tuesday) but the developer decided to call off the meeting due to concerns about coronavirus.

Belmont Healthcare currently have care homes in Kent and East Sussex.

The developer is looking to provide a facility that could house around 70 people and is hoping that members of the community will go along to the event later this month to discuss the plans.

Today (Monday March 23) The Courier contacted Belmont Healthcare to ask about the scheduled public consultation event and in a statement issued by the developer it said that a decision had been made a week ago to postpone the event.

A spokesperson from Belmont Healthcare said: "We postponed the event about a week or so ago following discussions with the parish council and the measures we assumed were coming so many are aware.

"We feel under the circumstances it would inappropriate to hold the event and will be updating people when we have new guidelines as to this unprecedented situation we currently find ourselves in.

"We may look to hold a virtual consultation in the interim as we cannot determine the current timelines of this situation."
