Public consultation on new homes in Ryton to be held this week

A public consultation is due to be held this week about plans for more homes in Ryton-on-Dunsmore.

The consultation is due to take place at Ryton-on-Dunsmore Village Hall on Friday January 30 from 3pm to 7pm.

The plans, which would see 60 homes built on land on the corner of London Road (A45) and Leamington Road, have been put forward by Richard Morton Architects Ltd, also known as R-M Architects, and Whites Property Ltd.

It would also see Ryton House, which is a Grade II listed building on the site, brought back into use.

Richard Morton, director of R-M Architects, who was also behind the design of the scheme at Dunchurch Hall, said: "The scheme is based around the restoration of Ryton House, which is in a very poor state at the minute. It has been for a long time - long before our clients bought it.

"The idea is to restore to Ryton House and to restore the parkland around it.

"Currently it's got no roof and it won't last for decades longer if we don't do something to it now - so that's the reason behind the proposal.

"We are still at an early stage where designs may change.

"So we are holding a consultation this week and we're very keen for people to come along.

"Leaflets have also been delivered to around 300 of the nearest houses to the site to let people know.

"It's on from 3pm to 7pm so people have got time to come and see us and the plans and we will be there to hear what people have to say.”

"Hopefully people will come along in numbers because we could love to see them."
