Rugby Foodbank volunteers thank local workers who voted to give them £2,000

Volunteers at Rugby Foodbank have thanked a local business whose workers voted to give them £2,000.

Staff at Hinckley and Rugby Building Society decided to donated £4,000 to two foodbanks, as a result of the votes collated in its 2021 Annual General Meeting.

The business received over 3,000 votes ahead of its 155th AGM, which was held online for a second year running due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This year Rugby Foodbank received £2,000, which will be used to provide emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis.

Adi Robinson, service delivery manager for Rugby Foodbank, said: “On behalf of the clients we serve every week, and those who will need us in the coming weeks and months as the impact of Covid-19 is felt by many more, I’d just like to say thank you.

"Financial donations like these ensure that we can plan and prepare to continue to serve those most in need in our community.”

Hinckley and Rugby Building Society’s chief executive, Colin Fyfe said: “We would like to thank each and every one of our members who voted in this year’s AGM.

"Thanks to them, we have been able to make a generous donation to the foodbanks in our communities. They have been a lifeline for many people, particularly in the past year, who have found themselves struggling, and we’re delighted to have been able to help them in their plight to provide vital support to local people in need.”
