On Saturday, August 22, Matthew Robinson will attempt to cycle as many loops of Rutland Water – England’s largest reservoir, to raise money for the Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity.

The route comprises around 15 miles of A and B roads – and Matthew said he is hoping to exceed his previous daily record of 155 miles.

Matthew has already cycled around 2,000km (1,200 miles) as part of his training.

He said: “I want to thank The Cynthia Spencer Hospice Charity for the at home care they provided for my dad.

“Ensuring that, my mum, (Pauline), my brothers (Paul and James) and I, with our respective partners, and all four of his granddaughters could spend as much time as possible with him during his last few weeks.

“That time was so special, that anything I could do to help the hospice provide care for others in the same situation, is the true inspiration for this fundraising effort.”
