Schoolchildren from Kenilworth and Warwick joining Britain’s Got Talent Choir for concerts

Schoolchildren from Kenilworth and Warwick will be joining a choir brought into the spotlight by Britain’s Got Talent for two concerts.

The BIG Sing Choir, who caught the attention of the nation on Britain’s Got Talent with their 350-strong flashmob at The London Palladium, are set to stage two of their biggest concerts to date – uniting hundreds of singers alongside special guest Tunde Baiyewu from The Lighthouse Family.

The performances will take place at The Royal Spa Centre in Leamington on March 14 and Charter Hall in Colchester on March 29.

More than 100 schoolchildren will be joining the choir on stage – including pupils from Woodloes Primary School in Warwick and Park Hill Junior in Kenilworth.

Pupils from Provost Williams CofE in Ryton on Dunsmore will also join.

Schoolchildren from Boughton Leigh Junior School and St Oswalds C of E in Rugby will also join the choir.

Together they will help form a 450-voice choir – bringing generations together through music.

Tunde, best known as the iconic voice behind Lighthouse Family hits including Lifted, High and Ocean Drive, will perform with the choir in a collaboration that blends gospel, pop, soul and anthems.

Gemma Francis, director of The BIG Sing, said: “This is what The BIG Sing is all about – ordinary people achieving extraordinary things together.

"To have local children singing alongside hundreds of adults and an artist like Tunde is just incredible.

"It’s powerful, it’s emotional and it shows the unifying power of music.”

The BIG Sing Choir have previously performed alongside artists including Tom Walker, Mica Paris, David Grant and Kenny Thomas, and won BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year.

These upcoming concerts will feature Lighthouse Family classics, original BIG Sing songs, and mass-choir arrangements.

Gemma added: “This isn’t just something you watch. It’s something you feel. And once you’ve experienced it, you never forget it.”
