Residents in Rugby are being urged to donate their unwanted motors to Rugby College as part of a campaign that aims to develop the next generation of vehicle technicians in the area.

Students at Rugby College, part of WCG (formerly Warwickshire College group), need a range of vehicles to help get them on the road to becoming fully-qualified mechanics.

Rugby College’s Motor Vehicle Department is calling on people in the community to donate their unwanted vehicles to the college where they will used by students for practical training.

Better still, any unusual makes or models will be gladly accepted by the college to help get students up to speed.

The call follows similar appeals at WCG’s Warwick Trident and Evesham colleges which have proven to be hugely successful in sourcing a wide range of vehicles.

Mike Wakeleigh-Jones, motor vehicles course manager, said: “It is vital that students enrolled on our motor vehicles courses have access to a variety of cars to familiarise themselves with all aspects of the trade.

“The car manufacturing industry is diversifying and the range of vehicles is widening, so it is important that our students are able to develop their skills and broaden their knowledge.

“Perhaps there is a car that’s been sitting on the drive for a while, or a vehicle that’s failed its MOT.

"By donating your unwanted vehicles to Rugby College, you will be helping our students on their way to becoming fully-fledged vehicle technicians.”

Anyone interested in participating in the campaign is urged to contact Rugby College’s Motor Vehicle Department.

Owners will have the opportunity to donate their vehicles directly to the college or, if the vehicle is not roadworthy, Rugby College can arrange for it to be collected.

To arrange the collection of an unwanted vehicle, contact Mike Wakeleigh-Jones on 0330 135 6665 or [email protected]
