Rugby firm Hi Speed has made a donation of £500 to St Marie's St Marie's Catholic Church, which takes part in the town's Winter Night Shelter to help rough sleepers.

The Winter Night Shelter is set up during the coldest months of the year, with several churches taking turns to host rough sleepers each for one night of the week - meaning rough sleepers have a place to shelter from the cold every night.

A spokesperson for St Marie's Catholic Church, which accommodates rough sleepers for one night every week during the winter, said the money will be used to provide new pillows and sleeping bags.

As well as making the donation, Hi Speed has once again assisted the shelter in transporting heavy camp beds from St Marie's to the next church for four months.

The spokesperson for the church added: "They have never let us down once and we were so grateful as the beds are difficult to transport and need large cars."

The Winter Night Shelter is expected to open again this December, providing the Covid-19 social distancing measures are lifted.
