Two castles run entrants generosity helps Kenilworth Rotary’s charity work to continue

Following the cancellation of the 2020 Two Castles Run between Warwick and Kenilworth many of the entrants generously declined a refund of their entry fee allowing Rotarians to continue with helping charities.

The club said it is grateful for the opportunity to continue to be able to help others and were able to support local and international charities with £20,000.

Some of the charities that have been helped include:

~ Myton hospice

~ Marie curie

~ Birmingham children’s hospital

~ Waverley day centre

~ Kenilworth centre

~ Women’s Refuge

~ Handicapped young people

~ Malins Ward Warwick hospital – facilities for nursing staff.

International charities also include; World child cancer, Shelterbox, charity vision, village water and many others. The international donations qualify for 100 per cent mark up from UK aid.

Organisers of this summer’s Two Castles run between Warwick and Kenilworth have cancelled the event for the second year running - but are hoping to move it to the autumn instead.

The annual race is organised by Kenilworth Rotary and Leamington Cycling and Athletics Club and would have been run on Sunday June 13.

However, race organiser and Rotarian Philip Southwell said: “The pandemic has made the decision to cancel inevitable but we are looking at perhaps being able to reschedule the race for September or October.”
