Thousands of riders across the UK have already claimed a free trip to the original seven mass-vaccination hubs, enabling people to receive the life-saving jab and supporting the UK Government as it fights the coronavirus pandemic.

In line with the cost of an average fare, Uber will cover up to £15 of passengers’ trips by entering the correct promotion code for the mass-vaccination hub they are travelling to in the app ahead of booking their journey.

Passengers will be able to claim a trip between Monday, February 8 and February 28. The promotion is only valid for the first 4,000 passengers.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s Regional General Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe said: “It’s vital that the most vulnerable people in our society are vaccinated against the virus as soon as possible, and we want to help remove any barriers that could prevent them from travelling safely to get their jab.”

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Uber has introduced a number of safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone who uses the Uber app.

Measures include:

~ Mask Verification: new technology to help ensure drivers are wearing a face covering as required by law, unless they are exempt. Drivers must take a selfie to verify they’re wearing a face covering before they can accept trips.

~ Ready to Ride Checklist: Passengers will be asked to confirm that they’ve taken the appropriate safety steps, including wearing a face covering and washing or sanitising your hands. Drivers are also required to complete a similar checklist.

~ Free health and safety supplies: Uber have partnered with Unilever to provide drivers with free supplies such as face masks, Lifebuoy hand sanitisers, and Cif wipes to help keep everyone in the vehicle safe.

~ Back seat policy: To help keep as much distance between riders and drivers, riders are no longer permitted to sit in the front seat when on a trip. Remember only to travel with members of your household or support bubble.
