A spokesperson from Warwickshire County Council said: "The Government’s current position does not prevent construction projects continuing, with guidelines on social distancing for workers being adhered to. Our priority has to be playing our part in tackling the spread of Coronavirus so our position on continuing the scheme could change at any point.

"However, while we are able to proceed with work in line with the Government’s guidelines, we are doing so and are able to make some very significant progress.

"We are seeing unprecedented reduction in traffic at all times of the day and the peak periods have virtually disappeared.

"We intend to use this change in road use to relax the time restrictions on the traffic management to enable a full working day from 8am to 5pm where we can.

"This is a change to the restriction that has been in place to date, where we have been restricted to 9.30am to 3.30pm.

"Progress had been excellent before we started to see the effects of reduced road use.

"We hope that regular users and residents of the area will have seen some big steps forward on the project in recent weeks.

"Since the terrible winter weather has subsided, our contractor has been able step up the pace of work and has shown significant determination to get many new areas paved and ready to open up for use."
