A Ford Transit van which was stolen from Myton Hospices' distribution centre on March 29 has been recovered thanks to a tracker installed by a Kenilworth company.

After a previous break in and vehicle theft at the charity, Kenilworth firm Sure-Track donated and installed theft recovery trackers for four charity vehicles.

The firm also provided free monitoring for three years - worth more than £2,500.

On Wednesday April 1 Sure-Track successfully recovered the stolen van and handed it over to the Police for forensics.

The van will soon be returned to the charity.

CEO for The Myton Hospices, Ruth Freeman, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to Sure-Track for not only donating tracking devices to us after a previous break-in at our distribution centre, but for successfully recovering our stolen van.

"Their generosity and support means so much and we can’t thank them enough.”

A spokesperson added: "We also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has posted kind words of support, made a donation and offered assistance with additional security.

"We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and it means so much to us to know that we have your support.

"We will need to cover the cost of repairs and replace the missing van keys, and will be looking into additional security measures – any further donations will go towards our urgent fundraising appeal.

"Providing care for terminally ill people in Coventry and Warwickshire continues to be our primary focus and we couldn’t do it without you."
