The Warwick Lions Club have donated food parcels to families in need.

The club, which serves the Warwick and Leamington area, made up the food parcels thanks to help from the team at Tesco in Emscote Road, Warwickshire County Council and the wider Lions Club International who made a donation.

Tamara Friedrich, president of the Warwick Lions Club, said: “Warwick Lions were so pleased to be able to support local families with food and a little something fun for the children in the family.

“We are limited in our ability to fundraise during the lockdown so the grant from our wider Lions Club district (MD105) was essential to supporting these families.

“We couldn’t have done this without the support from Melissa Hazell and Wendy Tipping at Tesco Emscote and Evelyn Atkinson, the family support worker from Warwickshire County Council.”

Jo Sabin, operations manager of the children and families team at the Warwickshire County Council, has thanked the Lions and said that the families have been overwhelmed and hugely appreciative of the thought and effort that has gone into this act and also for realising that some children and families are feeling the impact of coronavirus more acutely than others.
